This is what we do!
Students sing, act, dance and perform a full musical at the Crescent Theatre Birmingham, in the summer term every year.
Our next production is the musical Legally Blonde, which will be staged at the Crescent Theatre in July 2020!
The Brit Youth Theatre is a Midlands based stage school with an emphasis on performance.
The Brit Youth Theatre was set up in 2004 by two working actors, Michelle Connolly and Steve Paget. Steve grew up in Erdington Birmingham. He trained for 3 years in Musical Theatre, at the prestigious Arts Educational College in London, and has been working in TV, film and Musical theatre for the past 30 years. Steve spent 4 years in the cast of Billy Elliot in London's West End and recently made an appearance in Paddington 2.
Steve felt passionate about bringing his experience in the arts back to his home in Birmingham, and that is where the Brit Youth Theatre started. The idea was to have a stage school that focused on getting the students on to the stage, and performing. Steve has been running The Brit Youth Theatre with Michelle Connolly for 15 years. Michelle most recently played the role of Liz Cotton in EastEnders. Both Michelle and Steve travel from London each week to teach in Sutton.
I just want to thank you so much – this drama group has been an absolute game changer for both girls. In both of their end of year reports, it was mentioned that drama had improved their confidence, enjoyment of subjects, and contributions to the classes. Thank you so much.

My wife and I are both musicians and teachers, and we have both been involved in many school music theatre productions. We were really impressed with your production. It had excellent direction and choreography, very impressive singing and acting, admirably slick logistics and above all an infectious sense of enjoyment from all the children involved. We were delighted that Erin had the opportunity to take part.

I just want to congratulate you and your team on a fabulous production. Jack and Phoebe attended two other youth theatre groups prior to Brit Youth and to be honest, I was not impressed with the quality of what they achieved.
Brit Youth clearly provided a production that stretched and challenged my children which gave them a great sense of accomplishment. The children were a credit to you.

Mark and I personally just wanted to send you a message to say a huge THANK YOU for putting on such a wonderful performance. I went to all three shows and cried each time at just how amazing and confident all the kids were. Cara absolutely loved every minute of it, and has found a new love for the stage.
You and your team should be so very proud. Enjoy the well earned rest. Looking forward to next year already!!
With love and huge thanks

A massive thank you to the whole Brit Youth team for all your hard work. We have really enjoyed watching Grace over the last few days and she has throughly enjoyed being given such an amazing opportunity (we didn’t even know she could sing!)
